Three members of an Edmonton family that went missing this weekend in Lac Ste. Anne County were found dead.
Police say the bodies of the Pelsma family were recovered during a search near the Alexis First Nation Bridge in Lac Ste. Anne County on Tuesday.
On Christmas Day, Parkland RCMP said in a release that they were looking for Kelly and Laura Pelsma and their eight-year-old son, Dylan, who were last seen Saturday in Lac Ste. Anne County.
The family had gone off-roading in the Lac Ste. Anne County on their side-by-side utility terrain vehicle.
Recovery of the three individuals was conducted by members of the Parkland RCMP, Lac Ste Anne County Fire Service and an underwater recovery team.
The deceased have been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton where an autopsy will be conducted later this week.
“This is a sad outcome, the loss of any life is tragic,” said RCMP public information officer Cpl. Patrick Lambert. “The loss of this entire family is truly devastating over the holidays. Our thoughts are with the community and their extended family.”
