The National Day for Truth & Reconciliation Day is on September 30 across Canada.
September 30 is also known as Orange Shirt Day remembering First Nations, Inuit, and Métis survivors in Canada’s residential school system, as well as the children who never returned and the families and communities affected.
This national event acknowledges the forced removal of Indigenous children, loss of language and culture, and the enduring intergenerational trauma caused by these institutions.
The RAVEN talks with President Dianne Meili from Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre says “She wants indigenous or non-indigenous people to come out to this special event that her and team is hosting by honoring those kids that never came home by reflecting, storytelling, open conversation, and more”.
There will be emotional support available throughout the event on September 30, 2026 6:30pm at the Horizon Stage located at 1001 Calahoo Road in Spruce Grove.
