CIWE-FM Historical Timeline

2017

On June 14, the CRTC approved an application by Aboriginal Multi-Media Society of Alberta for a broadcasting licence to operate an English- and Indigenous-language Type B Native FM radio stations to serve the urban Indigenous community in Edmonton.

The station would operate at 89.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts.

2021

CIWE-FM “The Raven” begins on-air testing in January.

Official sign-on was at 6am on February 1.

2025

CIWE-FM Edmonton begins broadcasting in HD Radio, Channel 1

2026

CIWE-FM begins broadcasting in Calgary in HD Radio.  88.1 FM Channel 3

89.3 the Raven rebrands to the Raven Radio Network
