Thieves targeting copper wiring disrupted phone, internet and TV service for roughly 250 Telus customers on Friday after cutting cables along 110 Street.
The telecom said the vandalism caused “significant” damage to its copper infrastructure. Wireless service remained unaffected.
Repair crews reached the site quickly and began work, though Telus gave no estimate for when full service would return.
The company is coordinating with Edmonton police on the investigation.
The incident marks the second recent network disruption in the area tied to wire theft.
On Oct. 24, Rogers customers in central and west Edmonton experienced day-long outages that the company attributed to attempted cable theft.
At the time, Rogers noted a broader rise in vandalism and theft attempts against telecom infrastructure across Canada.
