Internet, TV and home phone service is down for residents in Wîhkwêntôwin, Glenora, Westmount and Prince Charles after fibre lines were cut early Saturday in an apparent attempted copper theft.
Rogers confirmed the cuts, noted that no copper was taken, and said an Edmonton police officer was on site.
Technicians are working to restore service, with an expected return by 8:30 p.m.
The company called the incident part of a rising pattern of vandalism and attempted theft targeting network infrastructure across Canada. These outages are often complex because they require precise fibre splicing, which lengthens repair times.
Rogers has urged the federal government to take stronger action against network tampering.
