The Edmonton Oilers have acquired forward Filip Hallander from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenceman Spencer Stastney.
Hallander (6-foot-2, 207 lbs, 26) has appeared in a pair of games with the Pens this season, recording a goal and two assists with a plus/minus rating of +4.
Born in Sundsvall, Sweden, the left-shot centre was a second-round selection of the Penguins (27th overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft.
After being traded to Toronto in 2020 and returning to Pittsburgh in 2021, he made his NHL debut in the 2021-22 campaign and has skated in a total of 18 games over four seasons, collecting two goals and five assists while averaging 12:04 TOI per game.
Through an additional 107 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) he tallied 26 goals and 36 assists for 62 points along with 44 penalty minutes.
