Alberta RCMP removed 125 impaired drivers off the roads over the Labour Day long weekend.
During the first weekend of September, RCMP conducted enhanced enforcement across the province.
Officers issued 1,125 traffic violation tickets, including 576 for speeding, 24 for distracted driving and 21 for seatbelt infractions.
Despite enforcement efforts, there were three injury collisions and two fatal collisions where two individuals lost their lives.
“Everyone should have been able to make it home safely this past weekend. If someone is about to drive impaired or make an unsafe choice behind the wheel, speak up. A simple conversation can save a life,” said Sgt. Darrin Turnbull of Alberta RCMP Traffic Services.
