The British Columbia Hockey League will stage its annual Showcase at the Silent Ice Centre in Nisku from Oct. 11-14.
Twenty teams will each play two regular-season games over the four-day event, performing in front of fans and more than 100 coaches and scouts from the NHL, NCAA, U Sports and other organizations.
The format has been shortened from five days to four this year. It also marks the first time the Showcase has been held in Alberta, made possible after five former Alberta Junior Hockey League teams joined the BCHL a couple of years ago.
“We are excited to be hosting this year’s Showcase in Nisku at the state-of-the-art Silent Ice Centre,” said BCHL Events Manager Connor Ewert. “Having the event in this facility will provide our players with a memorable experience as they showcase their skills in front of 100-plus coaches and scouts.”
The league will also host a roadshow-style event in Cold Lake in February featuring the Blackfalds Bulldogs.
