You’re invited to join the Calgary Pop Up Care Village on Friday!
This is a 1-day festival that happens yearly. Since in 2022, they have had five successful events, and their sixth Pop-Up Care Village is happening on August 21, 2026 at Central Memorial Park in Downtown Calgary.
C-PUCV is truly a festival. Think of a Lilac or Stampede but specifically for anyone who doesn’t have the means to buy food or the purchase power to enjoy entertainment. They are an innovative place-making initiative that showcases what it can be when a festival combines compassion, dignity, and innovation.
According to the C-PUCV website, the festival is for anyone experiencing systemic vulnerabilities such as homelessness, addiction, mental health issues, poverty, language and cultural barriers, and more.
The festival provides equitable access to basic services such as case management, healthcare, entertainment, clothing, haircuts, food, and more to the community.
The Calgary Pop-Up Care Village (C-PUCV) was co-founded in 2022 by University of Calgary nursing student Bill Zheng.
The Raven had a chance to speak with Bill more about this important family-friendly, accessible and helpful event:
The C-PUCV will take place on August 21, 2026, and will be hosted at Central Memorial Park (1221 2 St SW, Calgary, AB). The festival will begin at 10 AM and end at 4 PM.
