The Edmonton Elks will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, when they host the Toronto Argonauts at Commonwealth Stadium. After starting the season 6-1, the Elks have suffered two consecutive losses, the most recent being a 48-30 defeat against the Montreal Alouettes.
“We’ve dealt with injuries, we’ve dealt with weather, we’ve dealt with a lot of things, travel, schedule,” said Head Coach Mark Killam. “It’s just about committing to things we believe in, the things about preparing the right way to play winning football on the weekend.”
The Argonauts currently hold a 4-4 record and are on a two-game winning streak, averaging 31 points per game. Notably, three of their four victories have come on the road against teams from the Western Division.
“It’s not about what they’ve got, it’s about what we’ve got and what we’re trying to do,” explained Elks Defensive Lineman Malik Carney. “As long as we’re playing physical and we’re getting after the quarterback, being relentless in our rush and we’re tackling properly, that’s what matters to me. It’s not about who they are and what they got going on.”
After Saturday’s game, the Elks will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before enjoying a bye week.
