With improved weather conditions, the City of Edmonton deactivated its extreme weather response for poor air quality today at 9 a.m.
Based on updated weather forecasts, the current extreme heat weather activation will be extended to Sunday, July 26 at 9 a.m. As weather conditions change, subsequent alerts may be sent to advise of changes to the activation timeline.
The extreme air quality response was activated on Monday, July 20. The poor air quality response is activated when the
Air Quality Health Index is forecast to reach a score of seven or higher for at least two days in a row. Open City facilities, including libraries, pools and recreation centres remain available throughout the summer for anyone needing relief from the smoke. Bottled water and N95 masks are also available for pickup at City facilities throughout the summer. - 211 and press 3 for the 24/7 Crisis Diversion team. They can assist individuals who may be in distress and provide transportation to social service agencies.
- 911 if someone is in serious distress or in cases of emergency.
