RCMP have confirmed that a semi-truck collided with a train on Highway 21 in Leduc County last week, sending the truck driver to hospital.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2.
Emergency crews transported the driver to hospital for treatment. The extent of the driver’s injuries has not been released.
Police say the collision caused significant traffic disruptions in the area, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 21 throughout the morning.
Detours were established to help route traffic around the scene and assist local residents.
In addition, the Looma Transfer Station was temporarily closed on July 2 to allow emergency personnel to secure the area and conduct their investigation.
No further updates on the driver’s condition or the investigation have been released.
