The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating after a June 24 collision in north Edmonton resulted in a fatality.
At approximately 5:55 p.m. on June 24, 2026, Northwest Branch Patrol officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the Rosslyn area. It was reported to police that a 2024 Kia Seltos was travelling north on 97 Street, and the driver attempted to make a left turn onto 132 Avenue westbound when it collided with a 2011 Kia Optima that was travelling southbound on 97 Street.
EMS responded, treated and transported the 81-year-old male driver of the Seltos to hospital with serious injuries where he remained in stable condition. The 22-year-old male driver and 21-year-old female passenger of the Optima were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
Sadly, on July 4, 2026, the 81-year-old man succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
