The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival kicked off Friday at Churchill Square in the heart of downtown Edmonton.
Now in its milestone 40th year, the beloved event — which first launched in 1985 — runs for 10 days from July 3 to 12.
This year’s lineup features 38 artists from eight countries, including 10 performers making their Edmonton debut.
Audiences can enjoy a vibrant mix of circus acts, comedy, music, magic, and family-friendly entertainment throughout the festival.
Admission is completely free, with performers following the traditional “passing the hat” to collect tips after their shows.
Organizers encourage attendees to take transit where possible to avoid parking challenges.
For those driving, there is a designated accessible drop-off and pick-up zone in front of the Art Gallery of Alberta at 102 Avenue and 100 Street.
The festival promises a fun-filled celebration of street arts right in the centre of the city — perfect for locals and visitors alike.
