An Edmonton man is facing a long list of charges, following a traffic stop in Parlkand County.
On March 11, 2024 at approximately 3:30 pm, a traffic stop was initiated by the Alberta Sheriffs for a traffic violation on Highway 16 near Highway 60.
During the traffic stop the Sheriff observed several weapons, including a firearm, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was arrested and the Parkland RCMP was then contacted to assist with the investigation.
Parkland RCMP seized the vehicle and obtained a warrant to search the vehicle.
A number of items were seized from the vehicle, including a loaded shotgun, two unloaded shotguns, one loaded hand gun, prohibited over capacity magazine, ammunition, hard body armour, multiple knives and machetes, brass knuckles, 165g of methamphetamine, 92g of cocaine, 3.6g of fentanyl, a quantity of prescription and illicit tablets and $700 in cash.
The suspect was currently on a 10-year firearms/ammunition prohibition.
Edmonton resident, Markus Busch (45) has been charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance (x3)
- Proceeds of crime
- Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited overcapacity magazine
- Possession of a loaded firearm with readily accessible ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited
Busch appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a cash bail with conditions on March 13, 2024. His next court appearance is sceduled for today, May 8, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain, AB.
