All four glass panes on the 97 Street entrance to the Edmonton Law Courts building were smashed last night .
Edmonton police were called to the scene at approximately 10 p.m., according to EPS spokesperson Cheryl Voordenhout after a report of “a male running around with an axe.”
Police arrested the 45-year-old man and were then made aware of the extrent of damage to the east entrance of the law courts building.
The man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and issued an appearance notice for mischief over $5,000 and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
The man cannot be named due to the involvement of the Mental Health Act.
