The call came in at 1:51 p.m. according to an Edmonton Fire media release at a building located on 110st along Jasper Avneue.
A second alarm was then calledin at approximately 1:56 p.m according to EFRS.
SMoke filled the sky and flames could be seen coming from the downtown suite.
A man screamed from a balcony before being recued via an EFRS ladder truck.
Eight trucks and 32 firefighters were called to the blaze in total and the fire impacted four suites.
A man in his 20’s is under care and was taken to hospital.
Due to air quality concerns all residents were evacuated but were able to retrieve essential belongings before being accommodated to a nearby hotel.
42 people were displaced in total, including six children according to EFRS.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
