Edmonton police have issued a warning about a violent offender who was released Thursday from jail.
In a media release, EPS said it has “reasonable grounds to believe” Luis Kenny, who they say will be living in the city, will commit another violent offence “against anyone” after his release.
Police say Kenny’s offences have injured people and that he has been known to carry weapons while committing such crimes.
“Kenny has been known to quickly escalate to violence with his partner (girlfriend) or anyone within the community,” EPS said in the release.
He is currently subject to a court order, with conditions, and is being managed by the behavioral assessment unit of EPS.
The specialized unit deals only with high-risk, violent sexual offenders and high-risk violent offenders who are released to the Edmonton area.
Anyone with any information about any potential breaches of these conditions by Kenny can contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.
The Edmonton Police Service said it was issuing the information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community.
