The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating an injury collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian that took place yesterday evening in north central Edmonton.
On Saturday, April 20, 2024, at approximately 6:55 p.m. Northwest Branch Patrol officers responded to an injury collision at the traffic circle on Princess Elizabeth Avenue. It was reported to police that a male was crossing the westbound lanes of Princess Elizabeth Avenue at the traffic circle exit in a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a motorcycle that was exiting the traffic circle to head westbound on Prince Elizabeth Avenue. The collision caused both the pedestrian and the motorcycle to slide for several meters.
EMS responded, treated and transported the 54-year-old male pedestrian to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 25-year-old male motorcyclist did not report any injuries at the time.
EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) has since taken over the investigation. Sun glare is believed to be a factor in this collision. Speed is not considered a factor in this collision.
