British Columbia’s English Bay Blending and Fine Chocolates will soon start construction on a new factory, west of Edmonton.
The new $30 million facility, known for its chocolate bars, candy, cookies, and baked goods sold across North America, will be approximately 120,000 square feet and located on 8.3 acres of land in Stony Plain’s North Business Park.
Owner Jack Seguin said his company is planning to relocate and expand from Delta, BC, to Stony Plain.
“The town of Stony Plain has been on my radar for quite some time. The low cost of land and property taxes, easy transportation access, diverse business ecosystem, and supportive community are a few reasons I’ve chosen to relocate and expand my business here. Not many other places match the quality of the opportunities Stony Plain offers.”
Seguin said the project means 90 construction jobs, and 70 new permanent jobs.
Town of Stony Plain Mayor William Choy said he is honored to welcome English Bay Blending & Fine Chocolates.
“Mr. Seguin’s investment will create valuable jobs for Stony Plain residents and supports Council’s vision of growing the community. We are currently exploring options to further incentivize this investment through our Commercial, Industrial and Multi-Unit Residential Infill Policy and the Development Agreement Security Policy. Both policies are tools we use to foster new development that benefits our residents and community.”
English Bay’s future home in Stony Plain will begin construction this summer, and is expected to be fully operational in 2025.
