The Metis Nation of Alberta will be hosting a premiere event for their new documentary highlighting Metis experiences within the Criminal Justice System.
Among those featured in the documentary will be Jacob Samson and Maurice Cardinal, two Metis men who tragically were killed on a hunting trip in northeastern Alberta.
Andrea Sandmaier is the president of the Metis Nation of Alberta and says this documentary is a means of raising awareness to the fractured relationship between Metis people and the Justice System.
It’s been more than four years since Samson and Cardinal lost their lives, Sandmaier says she’s been following the trial very closely and spoke incredibly highly of the family members who helped make this project possible.
The screening will be held at the Edmonton Public Library at the Whitemud Crossing Branch from 2-5pm on Friday April 5th.
