On September 30, the National Music Centre (NMC) located in Calgary Alberta, will be hosting a panel to explore what role music plays in Reconciliation.
The panel hosted by David McLeod who is the curator of the Speak Up! exhibition at the NMC.
The exhibition recognizes Indigenous artists who accomplished in their career but also, have made an impact in their communities.
Joining McLeod will be: Calgary based Métis artists Shane Ghostkeeper who has been recording for the past 15 years as a tribute to the Alberta’s Métis community.
Lindsay Knight “Eekwol” of the Muskoday First Nation located in Saskatchewan who has used her music to tell the stories of the everyday struggles of Indigenous people.
And Fawn Wood of Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Northern Alberta who uses traditional songs to preserve Indigenous Culture while sharing it with younger generations on TIKTOK and on the Windspeaker Radio Network with the Cree Chatter Hour along with her husband Dallas Waskahat.
Windspeaker Radio Network had the privilege to sit down with McLeod, Eekwol and Ghostkeeper to talk about the upcoming panel.
The NMC will be having free admission on September 30 for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with the panel taking place at 1pm MST
