Edmonton Police have laid charges against two parents in connection with the death of their infant son, who was just over three weeks old when he passed away last year.
On February 4, 2025 first responders were dispatched to the intersection of 33 Street and 116A Avenue after receiving a call about a baby experiencing a medical emergency. The 25-day-old child was rushed to hospital but did not survive.
The following day, the Edmonton Police Service’s homicide unit was brought in to investigate. An autopsy concluded the boy had died from severe acute malnutrition combined with dehydration. Investigators classified the manner of death as a homicide.
This week, the child’s parents—24-year-old Lexi Tingley and 34-year-old Wolf Song Benson—were each charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and criminal negligence causing death.
EPS have not released any additional information about the case.
