A vibrant new boutique along 99 Street is proving that retail therapy can help build brighter futures.
Next step Thrift opened their doors recently, offering shoppers a secondhand experience with a powerful community-driven mission.
Every dollar spent directly funds youth prevention initiatives spearheaded by Hope Mission, turning everyday purchases into meaningful local support.
Beyond funding critical programming, the boutique doubles as an active launchpad for local youth and caregivers associated with the Tegler Youth Centre.
Through a specialized, two-part employment initiative, participants gain hands-on retail training in an environment designed to foster long-term career growth.
“Whether you donate items or you stop by the store, everyone who comes as a customer is really coming alongside the youth that are served through this space,” manager Lauren Reid explained during the grand opening celebration.
In today’s job market, securing that crucial first entry-level role can feel like an uphill battle. Next Step Thrift addresses this challenge head-on by equipping its team with essential workforce tools.
Key training areas provided through the program include Resume Building, Skill Development and Mentorship,
Whether you are looking to declutter, shop or support Edmonton’s young people, Next Step Thrift is open six days a week at 99 Street in Edmonton
