St. Albert has broken ground on its fourth fire station in the city’s northeast, with construction officially underway.
Located near St. Albert Trail and Neil Ross Road, the new hall is designed to improve emergency response times for residents in the northern part of the community.
“Community safety is a top priority, and it’s the City’s responsibility to invest in assets and resources to ensure our fir
st responders have the ability to serve our growing community,” says Mayor Scott Olivieri. “This location will position and equip our firefighter/paramedics with the tools and space to meet and enhance continued emergency response needs.”
The two-storey building will feature two double-deep apparatus bays, living quarters for firefighters and paramedics, a decontamination area, and administrative space. It will also be St. Albert’s first Green Globes-certified facility, constructed to elevated standards for environmental sustainability as well as occupant health and wellness.
Approved in the 2020 capital budget, Fire Hall No. 4 carries an estimated price tag of about $26.5 million.
Fire Station No.4 is expected to open in 2028.
