Athabasca RCMP are investigating a homicide in connection with the discovery of human remains.
On Aug. 6 at 3:26 a.m., officers responded to reports of someone discovering human remains.
An autopsy was completed in Edmonton on August 7 and the victim was identified as 12-year-old Edmonton resident Faisal Hussein.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
Athabasca RCMP are asking anyone that was around Highway 813 near Calling Lake or Range Road 213A (referred to as the “C-Road”), on Aug. 6, 2026, between 12 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., and have dash cam video to contact them at (780) 675- 4252.
