More than 2,400 athletes, coaches, and officials from across Alberta have descended on Strathcona County for the 2026 Alberta Summer Games, one of the province’s largest amateur sporting events for youth.
The Games, running from July 16 to 19, 2026, bring together athletes aged 11 to 16 to compete at a high level, represent their communities, forge new friendships, and showcase emerging talent.
The Games officially kicked off on July 16 with an opening ceremony and cauldron lighting at the Emerald Hills Pavilion.
Over the four days, athletes will compete in 13 sports, including baseball, tennis, beach volleyball, and golf.
“These Games give these young athletes an opportunity to showcase all the hard work they’ve put into their sport,” said Bonnie Hunka, chair of the 2026 Strathcona County Alberta Summer Games Society. “We are all really proud of their dedication and can’t wait to see them compete on a provincial stage.”
The 2026 Alberta Summer Games continue through July 19 at various venues in Strathcona County.
