The City of Edmonton has activated its extreme heat weather response as forecasters predict several days of hot weather.
Measures will remain in place until 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, and could be extended if high temperatures persist. The extreme heat response is triggered when daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 29°C or higher for at least three consecutive days.
Citywide Portable water is accessible 24 hours a day at 29 water stations connected to fire hydrants across Edmonton.
Peace Officers will carry water bottles and distribute them to vulnerable individuals in need.
City facilities such as libraries, pools, and recreation centres are open throughout the summer and welcome anyone seeking relief from the heat.
Free bottled water and N95 masks are available for pickup at various City facilities. For a complete list of locations, visit edmonton.ca/ExtremeWeather.
Residents are encouraged to check on older family members, friends, and neighbours during the hot weather.
