EPS are asking for the public’s help to identify a man wanted for the sexual assault of a girl in southwest Edmonton.
The incident occurred on June 23 between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the river valley area west of Grand View Drive and 62 Avenue.
Two girls, who were walking in the area, encountered an unknown man. According to investigators, the man initially walked past the girls, then turned around and approached one of them from behind before carrying out the sexual assault.
The girl managed to break free and ran to a nearby neighborhood for safety.
Police describe the suspect as a man approximately 40 years old, between 5’6” and 5’8” tall, with a thin build and messy brown hair. He is believed to be either Asian or Indigenous, and was observed to have a noticeable slouch and a slow walk.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing either black sweatpants or jeans.
