The RavenWood Music Festival is ready to return for another year of affordable live music in Strathcona County.
The local music festival has quickly built a reputation for delivering big sound performances with the small-town charm.
It gives artists a chance to reconnect with a local fanbase and for music lovers, it is an opportunity to catch some major acts without paying the price tag of some other festivals.
The festival, which started in 2019 with headliners Captain Tractor, the McDades and Ahead by a Century, is returning to its origins for this year’s lineup.
Captain Tractor and Ahead by a Century will return to headline the festival once again thanks in part to fans requesting the acts to return.
After ten studio albums, seven music videos, a CDRom, music placements in dozens of films and television shows, and thousands of live shows around the world, Captain Tractor still has the desire to keep pushing themselves.
The band spoke with Darrell Stranger alongside Bill Roberts of the RavenWood Music Festival to talk about the excitement everyone has for returning to the festival and playing in front of a live crowd.
Although all six members of Captain Tractor also have other artistic projects, from playing and recording with other groups, writing and releasing solo albums, to working behind the scenes, the group always returns to each other.
After thirty plus years the band believes there’s still more fun to be had, more songs to sing, more cheers to be made and are looking forward to more live performances.
Captain Tractor also played a live song in-studio to give everyone a preview of what’s to come when they hit the stage July 11.
