Calgary Folk Music Festival’s annual winter celebration Block Heater is returning for its 11th edition, and this year will see a new location hosting the festivities.
The festival will run from February 5–7 at the Confluence, and will feature three indoor stages and a large heated tent at the main stage.
There are a number of performers at this year’s festival including Goldie Boutilier, Cedric Burnside, Burnstick, PIQSIQ and many others.
Free, all-ages events will also be available at the Confluence grounds, as well as family programming at the Burns West Theatre, which will include music, puppetry, theatre and Blockbuster, a curated selection of short films.
Darrell Stranger had the opportunity to speak with Block Heater artistic director Kerry Clarke about this year’s festival, what is new to the programming and how excited everyone is for the winter celebration.
Tickets are available to purchase now, including single-day and weekend passes.
Folkies 12 and under are admitted for free, and student and senior discounts are also available. You can find more information on tickets here.
