“On the River is a 60-minute live performance of music and video, focusing on the Cree, Dene and Metis peoples’ community of Fort McKay, on the Athabasca River north of Fort McMurray.” Debbie Houle (one of the performers) and Dayle Hyde (the late Chief Dorothy McDonald-Hyde’s daughter) joined me to talk about the show and what they hope audiences will glean from it.
It’s a free performance on June 27th and is part of the Maclab Center For The Performing Arts’ recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
