The Alberta Motor Association (AMA) has launched a free Roblox game designed to help elementary-age children learn about pedestrian and bike safety.
Crosswalk Quest: Zoo Rescue, is aimed at kids ages 5 to 10 turning real-world lessons into an interactive adventure.
Players join Teddy, AMA’s mascot and safety buddy, to help animals scattered around a virtual city find their way back to the zoo.
Along the way, they practice safe street-crossing, learn bike hand signals, and discover the meaning of road signs, all with guidance from a friendly police officer who pops up with helpful tips.
Created with the goal of making learning about road safety accessible and engaging, AMA hopes Crosswalk Quest will give parents a safe, free tool that turns screen time into skill time.
“Parents have told us this game not only keeps their kids engaged, but it also helps them build confidence and real-world safety skills,” said Jane Flower, AMA Vice-president of Corporate Purpose.
“Kids don’t even realize they’re learning—they’re just having fun. And that’s the goal: take something serious like traffic safety and make it exciting and memorable.”
Developed with the help of NAIT Applied Research, Crosswalk Quest was built as an “adventure first” game, containing playful mini-games and surprises.
Online safety was also prioritized in its development, with no chat or video features, ensuring kids can enjoy it safely.
The game can be played on a tablet, phone, or computer and can be played here.
