The Grow Women Leaders Summit kicks off today at the Edmonton Convention Centre. Bringing employers, HR Leaders, policymakers, investors, and changemakers to tackle one of Canada’s most urgent challenges.
We caught up with Keynote Speaker Dr. Fiona Edwards-Akunesiobike, MSW, PhD, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at MacEwan University and Lead of the Black Community Research and Innovation Group. A York University alumna, her research centers youth mental health, anti-Black racism, and the intersectional experiences of Afro-Caribbean Canadian youth. A published poet and passionate advocate, she uses creative and scholarly work to center Black voices and transform systems of mental health support and inclusion.
Summit is running unit October 24.
