A beautiful view of downtown Edmonton during a sunshine morning in the summertime
The City of Edmonton is activating its extreme weather response for extreme heat to help keep vulnerable people safe during the hot weather expected in the coming days.
The activation started Monday morning and is expected to end on Monday, September 1 at 9 a.m. The response may be extended if extreme heat conditions continue.
The extreme heat response is activated when the forecast is anticipated to have daytime temperatures of 29 degrees Celsius or higher during the day and lows of 14 degrees Celsius or higher during the night for at least three days in a row.
Access to potable water remains available 24 hours a day at 28 water stations attached to fire hydrants across the city. A complete list of water stations is available here.
All Peace Officers will carry water bottles for distribution to vulnerable people in need and city facilities will also provide free bottled water and N95 masks.
