In a world where convenience often trumps connection, supporting local has never been more important. Whether you’re reaching for fresh veggies, handcrafted goods, or locally raised meats, shopping at your neighbourhood farmers market is one of the easiest and most delicious ways to make a difference.
Eating healthy starts with knowing where your food comes from. When you buy direct from Alberta growers and makers, you’re not only fueling your body with fresh, seasonal ingredients, you’re also fueling our local economy. Every dollar spent at a farmers market is a vote for sustainable agriculture, community resilience, and the passionate people behind the products.
Curious where to find your nearest market? There’s an app for that. The Alberta Approved Farmers Market App makes it easy to locate markets across the province, check schedules, and discover new favourites.
This summer, I reached out to markets in Edmonton and surrounding areas to hear what makes their market special. A few kind folks sent in voice notes to give us a little glimpse into the heart of their communities and I’m so excited to share them with you.
