Sexual Violence Prevention Month
The “Stand Up Walk to End Sexual Violence” takes place this afternoon, starting at 3:30PM
Participants will gather at Violet King Henry Plaza, with the walk ending at Kinistinaw Park and Festivities starting at 5 pm, such as a Free BBQ, dancers, drummers, speakers, and resource tables.
The walk is part of a broader effort to raise awareness during Sexual Violence Prevention Month.
May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month. The initiative emphasizes that sexual violence is often underreported due to stigma and fear, and that silence enables harm to persist. The Social Workers Association of Alberta (SWAA) is calling on all Albertans to confront the silence, stigma, and shame that too often surround this issue, while emphasizing the urgent need for systemic change.
