A wildfire broke out in Sturgeon County on Saturday prompting an emergency advisory.
RCMP said at 8:51 p.m. on Saturday that the fire had started on the north side of the river between Range Road 212 and 203 but had jumped the river.
At 10:05 p.m. RCMP said the fire had not jumped the river, as they previously reported, adding crews are getting the fire under control.
The RCMP said it was evacuating some residents because of the fire.
The blaze, estimated at 110 hectares is being battled by multiple fire crews under the coordination of the Sturgeon Regional Emergency Management Partnership (SREMP).
One home has been destroyed in the blaze, and several animals, including a herd of cattle, were safely relocated.
Strathcona County issued an alert to residents at 9:45 p.m. that smoke from the fire was blowing into the county, and asked people to only dial 911 in an emergency.
