300 drivers in Edmonton reported a collision this past week following the massive snowfall in the city. Accident Support Services International received 282 crash reports including 11 hit and runs.
This comes after the city and surrounding area received 15 to 20 centimeters of snow on Saturday and Sunday.
The Alberta Motor Association have included tips to help prevent this high number of collisions in the future including a simple message, “Don’t drive like you did before”.
Other tips include leaving five to ten minutes early, brake earlier and take corners at a slower pace while giving the driver in front of you more room just in case they spin out.
AMA training helps people understand reaction times, how to brake properly, how to take corners and how to deal with slides. For details on their winter training program you can visit their website.
