Sam Montembeault stopped 30 shots as the Montreal Canadiens shut out the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 on Monday. Montembeault earned his second shutout of the campaign after a 48-save showing against Toronto in the season-opener.
Brendan Gallagher, Kaiden Guhle and Jake Evans into an empty net scored for Montreal (7-10-2), which matched its longest win streak of the season with a second consecutive victory. Montreal outshot the Oilers 11-9 in the third period.

Head Coach for the Oilers Kris Knoblauch spoke to media following the loss, saying his team’s chances were few and far between.
Although Edmonton ranks in the bottom half of the league for goals scored, Knoblauch believes their high percentage chances will help them rank higher later in the season.
