Edmonton Police Service and City of Edmonton automated enforcement issued a total of 902 traffic violations on Sept. 12 alone during the most recent Operation 24 Hours.
733 of these violations were related solely to speeding. 57 red light infractions, 56 non-hazardous TSA infractions (equipment, documents etc.), 37 hazardous infractions (moving violations) were also issued that day .
The day also included 9 distracting driving violations, 7 criminal code driving offences, and 3 other criminal code charges related to vehicle stops.
The Edmonton Police Service and the City of Edmonton coordinate regular enforcement campaigns throughout the year similar to this to improve traffic safety on Edmonton’s roadways as per an EPS news release.
