To commemorate Alberta’s 119th birthday, many cities across the province will be hosting events for the yearly ‘Alberta Day’ event.
One day every year to celebrate Alberta is in keeping with the Fair Deal Panel recommendation to “explore ways and means to affirm Alberta’s cultural, economic and political uniqueness.”
Tanya Fir is the Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women for the Government of Alberta, she spoke to The Raven about what people can expect in Edmonton for the day.
From live music, local vendors and cultural programming, there’s something for everyone at Alberta Day. Fir mentioned there will be lots of Indigenous programming during the day as well.
