The Edmonton Oilers offseason continues with a late night trade sending defenseman Cody Ceci and a 3rd round pick to the San Jose Sharks for Ty Emberson.
The 30-year-old Ceci had five goals and 20 assists in 79 games last season, his third with Edmonton. He added two goals and three assists in 24 games in the playoffs. Ceci has just over 1 year left on his contract slated to make $3.25M.
Meanwhile, Edmonton is getting a 24 year old defenseman who had 10 points in 30 games last season.
Earlier Sunday, the Oilers added some forward depth after sending the Vancouver Canucks a 4th round pick for right wing Vasily Podkolzin. The 23-year-old Podkolzin had two assists in 19 regular-season games and also appeared in two playoff games last season for Vancouver.
The moves come after the rather surprising St. Louis Blues offersheets on forward Dylan Holloway and defenseman Philip Broberg.
