The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is once again hosting its annual Council Holiday Luncheon, offering a complimentary meal and festive celebration for residents aged 65 and older, as well as Elders from across the region.
Set for November 16 at SMS Equipment Place in MacDonald Island Park, the event is designed to honour the lasting contributions seniors and Elders have made to Fort McMurray and the surrounding communities.
Mayor Sandy Bowman and members of council will be on hand to connect with guests and show their appreciation.
“This is an event to which we look forward every year, because it gives Council and the Municipality an opportunity to connect with the seniors and Elders of the region and express our appreciation for what they mean to us,” Bowman said. “Without our seniors and Elders, we wouldn’t be who we are today – as people or as a region”
Doors open at 11 a.m., with the luncheon running from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Registration is open and can be completed online at rmwb.ca/luncheon. Anyone needing help signing up may visit their local municipal rural office or contact the municipality’s Pulse line at 780-743-7000 (toll-free 1-800-973-9663).
Complimentary transportation is available for those travelling from Anzac, Conklin, Fort McKay, Gregoire Lake Estates and Janvier.
Residents who require a ride should note this when they register so arrangements can be made.
