Grande Prairie has been selected to host the 55 Plus Alberta Provincial Winter Games in March 2028. The event will welcome athletes aged 55 and older from across Alberta to compete in various sports while celebrating recreation, community connections and active living.
In a statement from Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton, the Games will also provide an economic boost for the region by supporting local businesses and showcasing Grande Prairie.
The event also aligns with the city’s Aging Well Together initiative, which focuses on creating an age-friendly community where residents of all generations can thrive.
