Econoline Crush has a new self-titled album that just released today.
The album’s focus track, “Not Today,” tackles one of society’s most urgent conversations: suicide prevention. Trevor Hurt shares his thoughts.
“Suicide claims a lot of lives every single year,” Hurst explained. “It isn’t just one person that is affected, it’s friends, family and it’s coworkers.”
“The pain, it is real and the desire to escape permanently is offering a way out from that pain. Dig into your belief that tomorrow’s another day. Dig in and dig deep. You are not going to quit, not today, not today.”
The track joins the previously released “New Gold Magic” as the album’s new material, produced by Kane Churko. The recording process at Iguana Studios proved remarkably swift and collaborative. Hurst spent five days tracking vocals, then entrusted producers Thiago and Victor alongside manager Dan Erison to build the sonic architecture.
Coinciding with the album release, Econoline Crush is on tour with Live and Big Wreck on The Like A Rollin’ Thunder Tour.
Hurst spoke with Katlin Whitehawk about the new album and what it’s like to share the stage with other big names in rock ‘n’ roll.
Hurst also touched on his passion away from the bright lights of the stage and the recording studio as he has a degree in psych nursing helping Indigenous communities in Manitoba.
He explained the passion he has and the drive with the work he believes in doing.
