The Sixties Scoop Indigenous Society of Alberta supports and empowers ’60s Scoop Survivors and their families. The organization works together to reconnect what was lost and continues to advocate for increased recognition of the ’60s Scoop and those impacted by it, by improving awareness through lobbying and education.
Daniel Campbell, Treasurer from the SSISA talks with 89.3 The Raven about the importance of celebrating the indigenous culture and re-introducing the culture. The event will be on January 24, 2026 4pm at the Boyle Street Plaza Community Center.
The 60’s Scoop of Alberta removed indigenous children from their families between 1950s and 1980s. Thousands of indigenous children were taken from their homes and communities and placed in non-indigenous foster or adoptive homes.
