Candy Cane Lane returns December 12th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 148 street, and like previous years the holiday tradition teams up with Edmonton’s Food Bank to help support families in need.
Marjorie Bencz, executive director of Edmonton’s Food Bank, tells 89.3 The Raven this year’s campaign aims to collect more than 300,000 kilograms of food and $4.5 million in donations. Last year, Candy Cane Lane brought in 9,377 kilograms of food and over $11,000 in monetary contributions.
Candy Cane Lane spokesperson Ryan Hankewich says it’s heartwarming to see the community come together, using festive displays to raise awareness and support through food and monetary donations.
