November 8th is National Indigenous Veterans Day, a moment to recognize and honor the service and sacrifices of Indigenous veterans across Canada.
89.3 The Raven spoke with Retired Sgt. Chuck Issacs, President of the Aboriginal Veterans Society of Alberta, as he reflects on the importance of the day and the need to remember and celebrate their contributions.
Isaacs recalls walking on JUNO beach years ago alongside several D-Day Veterans from Alberta, describing it as a cherished memory shared with them.
Isaacs hopes reconciliation can be fostered through Remembrance Day ceremonies, encouraging both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to attend and honor all who have served.
