Starting July 2025, citizens of Alberta on Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) will fall under the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP). The provincial government says ADAP allows Albertans to earn more while still receiving other benefits, giving them higher earning allowances.
Information from the government says people will also receive health benefits and skills training. Officials add, Alberta Disability Assistance Program isn’t replacing Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped, alternatively, it is being offered as an additional program for those who are deemed able to work.
Under ADAP, Albertans receive a maximum monthly allowance of $1,740 dollars, $200 dollars less than the $1,940 dollars received through AISH. There is a blended application for AISH and ADAP, figuring out what an applicant needs and the situation will pinpoint which program they are eligible for.
